What Role Does Anger Play in Alcoholism/Addiction
                            Recovery?

PURPOSE:
This workshop will explore issues related to anger and recovery. Many recovering addicts/alcoholics will
experience anger and resentments which can trigger a relapse or a return to alcohol/drug use. This workshop will
offer instructions to service providers to assist with tools to manage these intense feelings and distortions in the
thinking process – tailored specifically to the use of 12 step programs in recovery.

COURSE CONTENT AND DESCRIPTION:
This course offers a therapist/counselor specific practice focuses to address directly during the therapeutic
session. The content addresses a philosophical set of beliefs and values which align with the “Big Book” of
Alcoholics Anonymous and explore the differences between the actual emotion of “Anger” and “Anger”. “Anger”
can be used as a tool for manipulation or switching addictions to the “rewards” of using anger related behaviors.
To use this workbook you will be asked to complete the pre-test, read the material and then complete the post-test.
The final “grade” is dependent upon achieving a grade of 70% or higher. You will then complete an evaluation of
the workshop and the tasks. Please send any recommendations or requested future topics.
