This workshop will focus on cultural beliefs and values that support beliefs and encourage behaviors. We walk
through the process of ethical decision making and assess the cultures with the greater society at large.
Comparing and contrasting messages displayed by the media, traditional family values as well as values of families
of origin.
Durign the therapeutic group process we recognize (particularly with criminal justice clients, however, this rings
true with voluntary participants as well) that in order to make changes we need to assist our service recipients
move from their comfort zones to new perspectives. This does free the individual from historical 'chains', however,
the jurney can be painful. We need to be sensitive to this challenge. This workshop offers new perspectives and
approaches to this challenge.
Tools used will be worksheets, media (video and film), lecture, discussion and basic cognitive/behavioral concepts.
