This program will explore concepts of parenting in the context of domestic violence perpetrators. We will look at
offereing effective tools to approach discipline and responsible approaches to parenting in light of the history of
trauma associated with the physical, psychological and emotional violence.
Sometimes the family do reunite, sometimes the fathers (who committed acts of power and control over their families)
need to re-learn how to be a productive, effective and healthy member of the families.
We will explore different parenting programs including Mark Perlman's Nurturing Fathers Program and his MArriage
and PArenting programs (for couples work). We will explore accountable parenting techniques.
Tools used in the workshop will be worksheets, media (video and film), lecture, discussion and basic
Cognitive/Behavioral concepts.
